It started with a subscription — and never stopped.
In 1967, a seven-year-old opened his first issue of Ranger Rick and met a raccoon who talked like a park ranger. He never threw one away. Neither did his parents, who kept renewing. Neither did he, decades later, when estate sales and flea markets started turning up boxes of the years he'd missed.
Forty years of that habit became this: hundreds of issues spanning 1965 to 1985 — the entire classic run, from the black-and-white early days through the glossy full-color eighties. Complete years. Legendary single issues. Duplicates three deep in some months.
